5 Tips for a healthier You in 2017

Happy 2017! It’s time to take a moment to reflect on the past years’ experiences and choices and set your intentions for the year ahead. Moving forward with a plan will ensure a greater chance of achieving your goals. Here are five healthy tips to consider as you set yourself up for the year ahead.

 1. Make small, sustainable changes

A complete lifestyle overhaul isn’t always a practical new year’s resolution. Life inevitably gets in the way, preventing us from achieving these unrealistic goals and making us feel like we’ve failed. Baby steps are a much better approach when trying to make sustainable healthy changes. For example, if you’re a bit of a sugar addict, rather than cut it out of your diet completely, lessen the amount you eat each week until eating less simply becomes a habit.

2. Find time to exercise throughout the day

Sometimes finding the time to exercise is the most difficult part of getting healthy, especially if before or after work is not an option. But what about during work? Why not ask some of your co-workers to form a walking or running group and take half-an-hour during lunch to work up a sweat. Exercising with colleagues can be a great motivator, and it’s also a chance to build richer relationships with them, which is bound to make for a happier work life.

3. Eat mindfully

Simply put, mindful eating is about learning to pay attention to the food you eat – why you’re eating it; what you’re eating and whether it’s healthy for you; and how it makes you feel. Instead of eating mindlessly and almost unconsciously, you notice your thoughts, feelings, and sensations. Like meditation, however, it takes practice, so be patient and you’ll be sure to reap the benefits.

4. Support your heart health with Ubiquinol

A healthy heart is going to power you through life, so we need to stop taking it for granted. Ubiquinol, the active (more readily absorbed) form of CoQ10, is a powerful antioxidant that is found naturally in the body. Its role is to extract energy from food and assist in powering the body’s overall energy levels as well as supporting the health of major organs. Our CoQ10 levels decline naturally as we age, particularly if we’re physically active. Consider adding a Ubiquinol supplement to help support your natural energy levels, support your heart function and help maintain healthy levels of LDL cholesterol.

5. Take inspiration from what extremely healthy people do every day

When your diet and fitness motivation is lacking, take inspiration from what other people are doing (and succeeding at). Focus on the people you look up to most. Pay attention to what they do and take notes on their mindset and actions. And don’t be afraid to ask them for advice. Just as you might easily ask someone for a recipe for the great dish they cooked, ask the person you look up to how they succeed at sticking to their strict fitness regimen.

Speak to your health practitioner before adding a supplement to your diet.
