Balancing a healthy heart and a healthy lifestyle in 2020

How can we try to find a balance between a healthy heart and a healthy lifestyle during all this upheaval and change?

Today, we wanted to keep it simple and focus on some manageable tips that you can take with you into the workplace, into your home and into your daily routine.

  • Diet and Nutrition

It is important to feed your body the right nutrients to nourish and help it function from day to day.

Health professionals consistently recommend the Mediterranean diet due to its focus on Fish, Nuts and Vegetables, three foods that are known for their high levels of heart-boosting antioxidants and Omega-3 levels.  Research has found the Mediterranean diet is a helpful heart protector compared to a regular low-fat diet,[1] and reducing your intake of processed foods and red meats could help to unlock some great health outcomes for you and your heart.

  • Exercise

Even a brisk walk is extremely beneficial towards keeping your heart healthy and happy!   It’s important that no matter what you do, you enjoy it!  Finding the right exercise that allows you to make the most of time with family and friends will establish healthy habits that will carry you well into older age.

Aim for 2.5-5 hours of moderate intensity physical activity, like walking, or 1.25-2.5 hours of vigorous intensity physical activity, like running or bicycling, (or a combination of both), each week.[2]

  • Supplementing with Ubiquinol

If you’re finding it difficult to balance tight deadlines and a busy life schedule, there’s no need to stress!  Supplementing with Ubiquinol could be key in helping to maintain a healthy and happy heart.  As the readily available form of CoQ10 (a natural antioxidant found in our bodies), Studies have shown that Ubiquinol can strengthen the heart and support those with cardiovascular problems by decreasing blood pressure and reducing heart rate. [3]  It’s worth discussing Ubiquinol as an option with a dedicated healthcare professional if you’re looking for supplementation options.

Always read the label. Use only as directed. If symptoms persist, consult your healthcare practitioner.
