From Awareness to Action for Heart Health

World Hypertension Day is recognised every year on 17th of May. It sheds light on the importance of measuring blood pressure and its impact on global health. This is a day to raise awareness and promote hypertension prevention, detection and control.

Understanding Hypertension

Our blood pressure fluctuates throughout the day depending on our routine. High blood pressure, also known as hypertension, usually measures 140/90 mmHg or higher. As per the latest release of the Australian Bureau of Statistics, 2.6 million Australians report having hypertension.[1]

High blood pressure is often associated with factors like olde age, genetics, being overweight or obese, not being physically active, high salt intake, and drinking too much alcohol. It is possible to lower blood pressure by making some changes to our lifestyle such as eating a healthier diet, quitting smoking and remaining active.

Extremely high blood pressure can have debilitating consequences on ones health including severe headaches, chest pain, dizziness, difficulty breathing, nausea, vomiting, blurred vision, anxiety, confusion, buzzing in the ears, nosebleeds or abnormal heart rhythm. It is always advised to consult your trusted healthcare advisor if experiencing any of the mentioned symptoms.

With this year’s theme ‘Measure Your Blood Pressure Accurately, Control It, Live Longer’, it is of utmost importance to accurately measure and keep a check on our blood pressure to ensure a healthy heart for our overall health.

Fuelling a Healthy Heart

Ubiquinol is among the most powerful fat-soluble antioxidants in the body. Ubiquinol plays a beneficial role in minimising the oxidation of small and dense LDL cholesterol particles in the blood, thereby promoting optimal cholesterol levels for overall health. The natural antioxidant, ubiquinol is a crucial compound for heart health and may play a role in providing the necessary cellular energy to maintain optimal heart function. By facilitating the production of ATP, which serves as the body’s primary source of fuel, ubiquinol may support three essential heart functions: contraction for continuous pumping, relaxation for rest between beats, and molecular synthesis for maintaining the heart’s structure. Due to the high energy demands of the heart, it requires ample ATP in its “energy pool” to ensure uninterrupted performance.

Always read the label. Use only as directed. If symptoms persist consult your healthcare professional.
