How to Beat the Heat & Keep Your Energy Levels Up With Ubiquinol

With the peak of the summer heat upon us, many of us can start to feel tired, weary and running low on energy. This is the result of the effect of hot weather on our body and its energy production – as the heat forces us to work overtime to keep ourselves cool and maintain a healthy, moderate body temperature.[1] The good news is that there are a few all-natural ways to beat the heat and keep your energy levels up. Tap into nature’s natural energy pick-me-ups to make sure you can feel your best through these last weeks of summer and avoid the exhaustion that often comes along with them:

Ubiquinol Power
Ubiquinol, the reduced form of Coenzyme Q10, is crucial in maintaining our energy levels, without leaving us feeling slumped in a post-caffeine come-down. As a lipid-soluble antioxidant, Ubiquinol is essential for energy production in the cells of our body and provides protection against inflammation and oxidative stress.[1] However, as we age, our body’s ability to produce CoQ10 declines, as does the ability to convert it into Ubiquinol – so if you’re feeling drained, there’s a good chance your Ubiquinol levels are depleted[2]. Combined with the effects of the summer heat, this can leave you feeling tired and unproductive. Consider Ubiquinol supplementation to help to support your natural energy levels and ensure you’re functioning at your best.

Hydrate, hydrate, hydrate
Water is essential to our energy levels – if your body is dehydrated, one of the first signs will be tiredness.[3] Keeping fluids up is essential over summer, especially as the high temperatures force us to produce extra sweat and cause us to lose water at a faster rate.[4] While it’s tempting to reach for an ice coffee or soft drink to keep you cool and satisfy your thirst, drinking water is nature’s best remedy. Always ensure you drink the recommended 1.5-2L of water per day to help maintain your energy levels and avoid dehydration.[5]

Eat smart
Rather than eating three large meals a day, try eating small meals and snacks with a low glycemic index every few hours to ensure you’re getting a steady supply of energy.[6] This will help to avoid the rapid spike that often occurs after eating quickly absorbed sugars and refined starches. Experiment with fresh salads made with wholegrains, high-fibre vegetables and healthy oils like sunflower oil and olive oil, or snack on nuts and fruits like berries. This will help you avoid feeling sluggish and ensure energy is maintained through the heat.

Hot Summer Tip: Add Blueberries or Acai to your breakfast smoothie, with muesli or oats or eat raw for a delicious snack!
