New Year’s resolutions are a dime a dozen with many of them consisting of looking better on the outside rather than feeling better on the inside.

Rather than focusing on a checklist of goals to change about yourself this year, it’s worth taking a look at the idea of ‘New Year, New You’ in a more conceptual sense and strip the list back to one resolution: To Love Your Body in 2018.

Loving and caring for your body enables you to develop a new sense of self-care where you will want to make better decisions for your body. Whether it be the decision to cut back to two pizza nights a week instead of four, or to spend 45 minutes doing an exercise class before or after work, not because you have to but because you want to.

It may sound like a tall order but we’ve got a few tips on how you can get your 2018 off to a great start:

Pick a fitness activity

There are 24 hours in a day, and for most people at least 8 of them are spent in work – it’s important to set aside at least 1 hour a day to get your body moving. If you aren’t interested in the gym, look around at something you would enjoy doing and something that will get your heart rate up. From hot yoga, cycling, to boxing- there are endless workout options that will not only get your body looking lean but can provide a social benefit also. Going to weekly classes and meeting people with a common interest is a great way to keep up the motivation to exercise regularly.

Fuel your body accordingly

If you have a diet rich in whole foods that nourish your body you will have a much better chance of staving off foggy thinking, low mood and low energy – which are often the symptoms of over indulging in junk food. Keeping alcohol consumption down will also decrease inflammation, and leave you looking and feeling fresher.

Try incorporating Ubiquinol in your diet, as it supports natural energy production in the body to help you power through the day. Ubiquinol is naturally produced in the body but as we age, its production slows down which means it may need a top up.

Prioritize ‘Me Time’

Relationships are like plants, they need to be watered so they can grow and thrive. The same goes for the relationship you have with yourself. It’s important to allocate some time each day to do things that get you into a state of ‘flow’. This means taking 30 minutes to an hour in the evenings to enjoy some reading, listening to music, doing a yoga class – anything that allows your body and brain to unwind doing.

Speak to your healthcare practitioner to discuss the benefits of Ubiquinol supplementation. Always read the label. Use only as directed.
