Ubiquinol is the active form of Coenzyme Q10, commonly known as CoQ10. CoQ10 is a strong antioxidant that occurs naturally within the body, and the majority of this CoQ10 in our bodies is in the form of Ubiquinol. As we begin to age, their Ubiquinol levels may begin to decline naturally- this is where Ubiquinol supplementation comes into play.

So, what does ubiquinol do?

Ubiquinol as the active from of CoQ10, means it is more easily absorbed in the body than CoQ10 is. Ubiquinol has also been shown to help maintain a healthy heart and LDL cholesterol levels. Ubiquinol has been shown to also help reduce muscle pain by up to 54 per cent and muscle weakness by 44 per cent.[i]

If you’ve been struggling with your cholesterol levels and they are higher than they should be, your doctor may have prescribed you with statin medication[ii]. Why not have a conversation with your GP or health care practitioner about Ubiquinol and how it may counteract the damage which can occur from this medication.

When may you need Ubiquinol?

  1. If you’ve been feeling fatigued
Ubiquinol helps our cells to create energy. If you’ve been struggling with your energy levels and seem to be struggling to get out of bed even after a good night’s sleep you may be suffering from a deficiency in Ubiquinol.
  2. If you’re over 30
As previously stated, as we age, our Ubiquinol levels become depleted and our bodies struggle to convert CoQ10 to Ubiquinol. Why not chat with you doctor about Ubiquinol and CoQ10 supplements?
  3. If you’ve been prescribed statins
Ubiquinol supplements have been shown to assist in maintaining healthy LDL cholesterol levels when taken in conjunction with statins. As well as this, many statin used often experience muscle tension and pain called statin-induced myopathy. Studies have shown that a daily supplement of Ubiquinol can reduce this pain by more than 50%.
  4. If you’re exercising
Ubiquinol aids in the production of energy in our bodies, hence helping to support athletic performance. Not only do Ubiquinol supplements improve with performance, but studies have shown that it also reduces inflation in muscles after exercising, improving the speed of recovery.

Where can you find Ubiquinol?

We recommend to head into your local GP or pharmacist and see if they believe Ubiquinol would be a suitable supplement for you!
