Kaneka Ubiquinol™ Secures Halal Certification, Reinforcing Inclusive, Ethical Innovation
Aug 2025Recent Article
Kaneka Ubiquinol™ has officially received Halal certification, a significant milestone that formalises our long-standing commitment to inclusive, ethical, and compliant manufacturing.
A Seal of Trust: What the Certification Confirms
As of May 28, 2025, Kaneka Ubiquinol™ was granted Halal certification (Certificate No. 355‑TSRI/24), following a comprehensive evaluation by the Shariah Research Institute of Takushoku University, and certified by the Japan Muslim Association — one of Japan’s most respected religious organisations.
This certification confirms that Kaneka Ubiquinol™ meets strict Islamic dietary and production requirements, including being free from alcohol, animal-derived ingredients, and any materials not permissible under Islamic law.
It reinforces what has long been true: Kaneka’s proprietary precision yeast-fermentation process and rigorous quality controls already aligned with Halal standards — this certification simply provides formal, internationally recognised validation.
Commercial and Clinical Implications
With rising demand for Halal-certified products in regions such as Malaysia, Indonesia, the Middle East, and across global Muslim populations, this certification enhances trust and access across a growing segment of the nutraceutical market.
Certifications by the Japan Islamic Trust are also recognised by the Department of Islamic Development Malaysia (JAKIM). JAKIM is the government authority responsible for Islamic affairs at the federal level in Malaysia. Among its key roles, JAKIM is globally recognised for its Halal certification system, which is regarded as one of the most stringent and trusted in the world.
For brandholders, it enables confident expansion into Halal-regulated markets with a verified supply chain partner.
For clinicians, particularly those working with Muslim patients, it offers a clear signal that Kaneka Ubiquinol™ can be recommended without dietary conflict, while maintaining the same standard of safety, bioavailability, and clinical relevance.
Advancing “Wellness First”
Halal certification is part of a broader philosophy at Kaneka: to support wellness across people, planet and product. We actively pursue third-party certifications that reflect not just regulatory compliance, but ethical alignment — ensuring that our ingredients meet the diverse needs of today’s global health landscape.
Looking Ahead
This milestone strengthens Kaneka Ubiquinol’s™ global readiness, aligning with clean-label expectations, regional regulatory requirements, and inclusive consumer values.
