Kaneka Ubiquinol™ at AFCC 2025: Advancing Cardiovascular Innovation through Mitochondrial Science
17–20 July 2025 | Setia SPICE Convention Centre, Penang, Malaysia
The ASEAN Federation of Cardiology Congress (AFCC) 2025 is set to bring together over 2,500 cardiovascular specialists, researchers, and healthcare innovators from across the Asia-Pacific region for a landmark event in Penang, Malaysia. With a focus on Next Generation Cardiology, this year’s congress will spotlight the paradigm shifts reshaping how cardiovascular disease is understood and treated.
Kaneka Ubiquinol™ is proud to participate in AFCC 2025, joining global thought leaders at the forefront of cardiovascular science. With mitochondrial dysfunction now recognised as a core contributor to cardiovascular health, our focus at this congress is clear: to advance the conversation on cellular energy, oxidative stress, and the emerging role of Ubiquinol in supporting the cardiovascular system.
Why Mitochondria Matter in Heart Health
Despite significant progress in managing cardiovascular risk factors, a growing body of research points to mitochondrial dysfunction as a foundational — and often overlooked— contributor of cardiovascular health. Impaired ATP synthesis, increased oxidative stress, and suboptimal redox balance may all contribute to the onset and progression of vascular dysfunction, metabolic dysregulation, and cardiac decline.
Mitochondrial health is no longer a niche concept, it’s a next-generation target. As such, the clinical relevance of Ubiquinol is gaining traction across cardiology, particularly for its role in supporting energy production, endothelial function, and lipid metabolism.
Two Expert-Led Sessions with Dr Ross Walker
A key highlight of AFCC 2025 will be two presentations by Dr Ross Walker, one of Australia’s leading integrative cardiologists, who will explore the scientific and clinical applications of mitochondrial support in cardiovascular care.
SESSION 1: Mitochondrial Health and Cardiovascular Disease
Friday 19 July, 8:40am
This session will examine the biochemical underpinnings of cardiovascular dysfunction, specifically the role of mitochondrial impairment and Ubiquinol depletion from around age 20. Key mechanisms will be explored, including ATP production, nitric oxide (NO) bioavailability, and oxidative stress regulation.
Drawing on over 100 peer-reviewed studies, Dr Walker will provide clinicians with an evidence-based framework to integrate mitochondrial support into practice, particularly in the context of age-related cardiovascular decline and metabolic health.
Learning outcomes:
- Understand the physiological role of Ubiquinol in mitochondrial and cardiovascular function
- Explore the antioxidant and anti-inflammatory actions of Ubiquinol in endothelial and lipid regulation
- Review dosage guidelines and clinical considerations in cardiovascular health protocols
SESSION 2: Integrative Cardiology – The New Way Forward
Saturday 20 July, 11:40am
In this future-focused session, Dr Walker will introduce the emerging discipline of integrative cardiology, where conventional pharmacotherapy is complemented by validated lifestyle and nutritional strategies. Special attention will be paid to the importance of sub-cellular health, including mitochondrial efficiency and redox balance, in shaping long-term outcomes.
This comprehensive, patient-centred model draws on diet, exercise, sleep, stress regulation, and evidence-based nutraceuticals to support both prevention and recovery in complex cardiometabolic conditions.
Learning outcomes:
- Evaluate the evidence for integrative models in managing cardiometabolic conditions
- Understand the role of mitochondrial health in cardiovascular prevention and recovery
- Apply personalised, lifestyle-focused interventions alongside standard care
Driving the Mitochondrial Conversation in Cardiology
As the global supplier of bioidentical Ubiquinol, produced via our precision yeast fermentation process, Kaneka UbiquinolTM is committed to advancing mitochondrial science as a foundation for next-generation cardiovascular care. We’re attending AFCC 2025 not only to support these critical conversations but to engage with the clinicians, brandholders, and researchers driving innovation in the field.
From endothelial health to healthy ageing, we see mitochondrial function as central to cardiovascular resilience and Ubiquinol as a clinically substantiated ingredient with wide-ranging relevance in cardiology.
We look forward to seeing you in Penang.
