More Research for Helping Alleviate Monthly Symptoms

Many women experience shifts in mood, energy and sleep each month throughout their reproductive years. These changes can be disruptive – impacting concentration, emotional wellbeing and overall quality of life. New research suggests there may be a natural way to help support women during this time, with a familiar nutrient playing a new role.

Furthering research done by Martin et al 2023[1] on Ubiquinol for symptoms experience by many women during the month, a 2025 pilot study, published in The Journal of Obstetrics and Gynaecology Research[2], explored the effects of Ubiquinol supplementation on symptoms of women’s health – specifically, mood-related symptoms, sleep and overall wellbeing throughout the month. The results are promising, particularly for women over the age of 36.

What Did the Study Involve?

Conducted as an open-label pilot study with 86 female healthcare workers aged 21-48, the study asked participants to take 150 mg of Ubiquinol daily for three months. During this time, they regularly reported on physical and emotional symptoms related to their monthly cycle and completed questionnaires on sleep quality.

📝Key Findings

The women aged 36 and above experienced significant improvements in emotional resilience and quality of sleep. Participants in this age group reported fewer feelings of irritability and tension, along with a greater sense of control and better sleep outcomes.

Why Ubiquinol for Women’s Health?

Ubiquinol is naturally present in the body. It plays a key role in energy production and acts as a potent antioxidant – helping protect cells from oxidative stress, which can be elevated during times of hormonal fluctuation.

With age, the body’s ability to produce and utilise Ubiquinol declines. This can impact not only physical energy but emotional wellbeing, mental clarity and sleep. By supporting mitochondrial function and protecting against free radical damage, Ubiquinol may help promote a more balanced and resilient response to the body’s natural monthly rhythms.

How Ubiquinol improves symptoms associated with women’s health:

  • Reduces inflammation and oxidative stress to alleviate pain and stiffness.
  • Supports mitochondrial energy production to help reduce fatigue and improve the ability to handle ordinary life demands.
  • Supports women’s reproductive health for overall health and wellbeing.

💡What this Means for Women

This study is an important step in recognising the broader benefits of Ubiquinol for women’s health. While traditionally associated with heart health and fertility, Ubiquinol may also be a valuable tool for women experiencing particular symptoms each month.

With its excellent safety profile and decades of research behind it, Ubiquinol could offer a new way to support mental and physical wellbeing – especially for women managing the demands of work, family and daily life.
